The National Endowment for the Arts is gloomy about reading and literacy. And anyone who confine the idea of literacy to a one dimensional object (the book) has reason for gloom. But electronic reading (websites, blogs, email and eBooks) are transforming our world. Books may be on the downturn, but literacy certainly is not.
